1965 – 2001

Deep roots

Originally from France, Franklin Gharbi has always been surrounded by furniture craftsmanship. His family’s history in the industry dates back to 1880 when his great-grandfather established a workshop in Souillac. This legacy continued with his uncle and father, who both specialised in selling antique and contemporary furniture.

In 1991, Franklin opened his own furniture store in Paris and simultaneously worked as an artistic-design consultant for the Italian furniture company Verado a Prata. In 1998, he founded Mobilier d’Ailleurs, importing unique furniture from Egypt, India, and Indonesia for the European market.

2001 - 2017

Chakra Naga Establishment

The meeting between Franklin Gharbi and Luqi Hermawanti, a risk-taking entrepreneur, marked the humble beginnings of Chakra Naga in 2001. The company started in a small workshop in Jepara, Central Java. Local artisans used traditional methods to craft high-quality furniture.

As the business grew, Chakra Naga expanded to two large workshops. This allowed for increased production while maintaining excellent craftsmanship. The company became known for its classic style and attention to detail.

In 2017, Chakra Naga is set to embrace a new direction. While the classic style has been a key part of the company's identity, it is now ready to explore new ideas and innovations.

2017 - Today

Grandome Presence

Over the past 20 years, Franklin Gharbi and Luqi Hermawanti, through Chakra Naga, have achieved significant global expansion. Their success in brand licensing partnerships with global retailers marks a major milestone in their business journey. This international recognition inspired them to establish a strong presence in Indonesia. In 2017, they launched Grandome, their contemporary furniture brand.

Grandome offers modern furniture collections, decorations, and rugs designed to enhance comfort and style in any living space. The brand continues to refine its modern-styled furniture, available both online and in stores. Customers can personalise their choices to match their interior styles. With four locations—three in Jakarta and one in Singapore—Grandome is committed to providing a seamless shopping experience.
